And the series does quickly diverge away from JttW once you get past Kid Goku but that's besides the issue. The special effects are meh at best. They went super overkill on the CGI and a lot of it looks very... not good. The best visually looking parts are the ones with the least amount of CGI. Maybe you just don't like DC setting or JL, but I found it lovely and faithful representation of the comic books. The plot was poorly explained, which I can see how that throws people off. The only unfair issue is that people were criticizing the small fry villian, but he's almost 100% accurate in character to the comics. The New God henchmen are super one-dimensional, stupid, and barely loyal in their one-track minds. Darkseid is the only reason why they function, hence why his absence causes extreme disarray on their own planet. Again, I wouldn't expect a solid chunk of people to get that, but I found it fantastic. Still the 2nd best DC movie imo. Meanwhile, Thor: Ragnorack, while funny, managed to butchers Thor's character, strength, and background...while fucking up the glorious Planet Hulk reference with bland predictable comedy.
