Can't do any more damage by changing course again. Luke actually being alive This wouldn't work for me unless the movie spends a big chunk of time justifying how Luke discovered Plagueis' secret or something. Even then, I don't think you can just bring him back without foreshadowing it before his death... it would seem too cheap at this point. The story was that Luke still had the full Force at the end of TFA and the scene that they had filmed had Rey arriving to a Luke surrounded by a bunch of floating boulders (I know, sounds cheesy). Then Rian told JJ about his spin and JJ accepted it and changed the ending of TFA to be Force-less.
