Original: Medieval setting, (almost) all characters can access all jobs, gender affects stats. Abilities learned through job levels, jobs unlocked by combinations of job levels. A lot of characters have unique classes. Monsters are recruitable. Story is basically game of thrones.

FFTA: Fantasy setting, would call it standard fantasy setting. Abilities learned through equipment and gaining AP. Sidequests are largely now combat missions instead of pure dispatch, with over 100 missions. Jobs are locked to races. Unique classes removed (some enemies have some). Law system penalizes you for taking certain actions. Story has you trying to return to the real world despite everyone else wanting to stay.

FFTA2: Same setting as above, same basic gameplay. MP now starts at 0 and recovers per turn. Law system removed. Some classes require story progression / completion of sidequests to unlock. Heavy emphasis on sidequests, expanded postgame. Story may have been written by a 6 year old (I can't even pretend to be impartial to how bad it is).

Thought I could make a topic a day with a couple different series that have died and gauge people's interest. Let me know if you have any ideas, was thinking of advance wars too, has to be a series though.

Yes, and I would want it in the style of the original. I liked the Advanced games, but I preferred the much darker story of the first game.

No. Even if I was a fan of FFT (which I'm not, really), I wouldn't trust Square not to royally fuck it up, given how badly they've fucked up the main FFs nowdays, not to mention the FF7 remake.

They pretty much can't be trusted with anything FF that isn't a direct port / remaster anymore.

fft doesn't hold up and wasn't that great back in the day. tactics ogre was better

I love FFTA2 and have logged over 40 hours on it, but if we're going to get another one, it desperately needs to be faster. Those forced animations ruin the flow of the game.
