He's a bit more relatable

actually I can relate to Thanos more. Being white and raised middle class, it's impossible for me to relate to Killmonger's life, or his goal in the movie which no white person would be ok with

But with Thanos.....I have a huge problem with obsession and OCD. and Thanos kinda has that I think. he just can't let go of his idea. it consumes his very existence and he goes to any length to satisfy the obsession. I know how that feels.

Lmao Thanos motivation is stupid at best - like dude can snap shit into existence why not just snap resources and help reshape landscapes? They should have somehow kept his original motivation intact that makes more sense

Killmonger literally did nothing wrong and he was just trying to claim his roots from a country that did him wrong and left him an orphan - he followed and respected the rules of the land and shit

you could feel and understand Killmonger's contempt for T'Challa and Wakanda, and what they represent, due to his past experiences.

Thanos came across like some psycho god, with only his affection for Gamora "humanizing" him, which felt kinda forced, IMO.

I can understand why people might prefer Thanos, but I felt that Killmonger was far and away the more compelling villain.

How was the great nation of Wakanda being oppressed by Britain? I thought the point is Wakanda is that they were self sufficient and never felt the ills of colonization, invasion, or anything like that.

Killmonger is a relatable kind of villain in the same way villains like Joker and Two-Face are. Or even anti-heroes like The Punisher.

People who are broken by society. People who decide one day to put the power back in the own hands. What if you stopped caring about being good and did what you wanted and what you felt was right even at the expense of everyone else? Of course there's a revenge fantasy element for characters like that. Killmonger adds that extra layer for people because he's lived under an oppression that is relatable to a lot of people.

I think these sorts of villains end up being the best. They represent the worst of what you could potentially be if you stopped trying to be good.

Thanos is awesome. But none of us are out there arguing to kill half the population to save our planet. None of us are imaging a scenario where we end up being the sole survivor and we decide to go grab some infinity stones.

I'm not saying his plan wasn't rational from a psychotic and racist presupposition, he's a perfectly plausible villain.
It's just that he's a piece of shit on literally every level. He's a racist murder and genocidal maniac, and frankly, heretical and without honor or respect for religion or the line of succession, given that he burned flowers gifted from a god.

His motivations are basically no different from Hitler's.
