Apparently on Rainbow Six: Siege, youre only allowed to use the mic to talk about tactical stuff. When I start trying to converse casually, people start voting to kick me. Had the same thing happen to me while playing Guild Wars 2.

I thought interactivity was the purpose of playing online multiplayer games. I guess these kind of communities cant tolerate someone who acts like he goes outside every now and then.

Is it possible you are yammering away too much or during times when you shouldn't be?

Yeah.

In Siege I'd much rather hear directional cues than some guy yammering away about pointless shit

Callouts are fine but limit it to that

Know your context/audience. Are you talking in the middle of a round of R6 or during a boss fight in GW2?

I'm sure if your guild had a discord you could chat while just leveling/farming since it's largely a mindless activity that frees you up to splitting your attention.

Trying to hold a conversation when you're trying to clutch 1v5 on R6 is probably the most frustrating experience in the human condition.

You could probably talk in between rounds on R6, but it's a short window and frankly casually engaging someone who is going to leave your life for good in 10 minutes can come off as a pointless endeavor. Multiplayers are best played with a group of real-life friends.

I never played those games but they always seemed to me to be filled with people who take the games too seriously. like the real life version of the fake chatter in the Ubisoft E3 demos.

Back in the days of the 360 before party chat everyone used to chat about random shit (usually arguing though) during games like Gears of War and CoD2

online gaming seems to have gotten worse.

people used to be able to socialize and kick ass at the same time.

now they can't do both, often suck at the socializing aspect, and usually aren't that good of players.

Even after party chat I saw this a bunch in CoD's SnD since it forced you out of the playlist if you stayed in party chat. People would still mute you though so they could talk to their friends without interruption.

I miss the days when roflstomping people in COD gave more credence to your argument.

I also remember tons of fights between British people and Americans though there some games were both would just talk nicely to each other.

I remember a lobby that was like mixed US/UK and everyone stayed together for like 3 hours talking

I get pissed when there's two people being chatty outside of a private vc in a game like R6 too unless it's loading screens or something.

Communication is critical in that game and if I'm trying to hear enemy call outs or give them and a couple are just eating their mics shooting the shit they're fucking over the collective team pretty hard.

More casual stuff though like CoD or GTA are full of chatty people if you want that.

Of course people in a game like R6 a lot of people are going to be like gtfo.

Ive played so many games of overwatch where people just banter over mic or talk about their life history or what they are doing tomorrow night, nobody cares if you talk about stuff other than the game

A game like Siege, the online community are pretty much the hardcore players and fans considering the age of the game. Same goes for a Halo or Call of Duty community on a game that's been out for a few years. They are there to win games and compete, not casually stroll through and BS with people. Are you playing ranked or casual is the next question.
