Not my first apartment ever at all, but first in an actual BIG city. No suburb life. Apartment has a parking garage and I'm up on the 4th floor, with a view of the skyline above the biggest park in the city.

What should I expect? I know car robberies can be big, and know not to leave shit in my car at all. I live on the top floor of my building, but I'm sure it'll still be busy and fairly loud. There are 640 units at this apartment complex.

Any advice, CE? I'm super excited, it'll be nice to live in the city, closer to nightlife and more shit than the boring ole suburbs.

You already made the best choice by getting a unit on the top floor.

Honestly just enjoy, learn the best pubs and clubs and use uber.

I almost always choose the top floor. I hate loud ass neighbors stomping around. I want to be that loud ass neighbor ;)

Maybe I should find a local watering hole I can walk to like on HIMYM. That'd be sick to have a local spot to go and chill at constantly. Maybe become a regular.

Definitely find a pub or something within walking distance. Always nice to just get out now and then and just hang at a pub.

Im not much of a strip club person, honestly. I went to one in Lubbock(LOL GROSS) and Tyler. Surprisingly the Tyler one wasnt terrible. But theres just something strange to me about the concept of seeing random girls you cant really fuck naked.

car alarms at 5 in the morning are nice

in the suburbs you can expect the person to come out soon

in the city you never know when the person will be back to their car

Here's my basic tips;
- Each neighborhood is basically it's own town. Get to know your area and make friends at local stores/restaurants. You will probably have everything you need nearby.
- It's going to be noisy all the time. We have a skytrain that runs near our house until 2 am. You will get used to it, honestly. Sirens are going to go off frequently. Don't sweat it.
- If your city has public transit, learn it. They usually have websites that help you plan your route. Even Google Maps will help. Parking in downtown areas almost always sucks.
- Just because something is in the same city, doesn't mean it's 'nearby'. Remember to check routes and that traffic can and will delay you.

I'm also on the top (fourth) floor of my apartment in Texas (but in Austin not Houston).

If your parking garage is anything like mine, be careful driving around it. It's tight and easy to hit another car if you aren't paying attention. Maybe even install a dashcam that can record when the car is parked. My friend's car was totaled in his parking garage because some moron hit-and-ran it one night.
