"Boeing says the jet could get you anywhere in the world in just one to three hours. With top speeds exceeding 3,800 miles per hour, the trek from New York to London, for example, could take 120 minutes. Currently the trip takes around seven hours.

Boeing (BA), the world's largest aircraft manufacturer, says the concept is still in the early stages of development. Key technical challenges will need to be solved before the company will even produce a prototype, Boeing spokesperson Brianna Jackson said Wednesday.

It's possible the concept could become a reality in 20 to 30 years, Jackson said in an email."

The Concord used to be able to do new York to London in 4 hours. It silly they stopped using them due to one crash. Since so few were made the crash caused a statistical brain fart.

they were never profitable and maintenance costs continued to rise. only 20 were built and the last was built in 1979.

A normal plane crash already is catastrophic.

At that speed a crash would practically atomize the plan and its contents...not to mention the damage to the area it hit.

is it gonna fly at Mach 2 or something?
If I recall SR-71 blackbird was capable of flying from NY to London at around that time.

Still we had the capability back then. Also, for a large company owing two or three, while not profitable will still make people want to try it and inevitably use the airline if they give you "points" for regular flights. H

It cost like 30 times as much to fly on one of those things and you only made it was, 2 or 3 times faster?

Plus they basically told it to fuck off and it could only fly supersonic over the ocean.

Yeah but that is from subspace. Commercial jets do not go that high.

The sr71 was a special case. From the sounds of it that thing was held together by centrifugal force and prayers. I wouldn't want to fly in that thing
