I fully respect that medicine can come from other sources but it must be studied and what is nonsense (grinding up rhino horns or petrified tiger dick as an alternative to viagra for example) should be tossed in the garbage.

"Western" medicine is medicine and when things that actually work are found they are absorbed. Look up Quninine or as it was known centuries ago "Jesuits Bark" because some random priests talked to natives in South America that used it to treat malaria. It was more effective than anything in the west and it spread back across the ocean and became medicine.

Since that time actual science has been used to separate the bullshit from the effective treatments.

To me it doesn't really matter where it originates or come from, just as long as it is evidence based.

I agree 100%, and realize that 'western' and 'eastern' are not merely about the geographical origin of the medicine are more about the philosophy. However, I think that some herbs, vitamins, etc, may have merits as preventative measures, though that probably requires more research and is largely a case by case thing.
