And then they'll tell you you're being "a smug centrist" and that you "have no opinions" and that being head-over-heels obsessed with politics is normal.

Yeah that describes partisan pundits (Sean Hannity, Paul Krugman) and their followers. Fortunately there are more intellectually honest people out there like Ron Paul, Glenn Greenwald, Tom Woods, and Dave Rubin.
