They do not care, no judge will listen to you, no matter how shitty she is, they side with the mother unless you have mountains of proof that she's a terrible person, and thousands of dollars to sue for custody.

My first wife was in the country ILLEGALLY when the court ruled against me. The judge flat out told me that her lack of any valid proof of citizenship had nothing to do with the case. He awarded her full custody, and they have taken 40 cents of every dollar that I've made since then. I can't afford a lawyer because 40% of my money goes to her, so that she can pay her lawyer to block every attempt I make to fight this unfair deal.

Wear condoms, get a pre-nup, cover your ass in every way possible. Hell, get a vasectomy. It can be reversed later. Child support is forever.

"If a circle was square.."

"If sounds had colors..."

"If cats were dogs..."

"If purple monkey dishwasher..."

There is a way out, which is to get custody as you said. Thats one way out. And the situation you were in sucked, bit its not usually that hard. It depends on a lot of things, but its very possible to get custody. Happens a lot where I am. Now, at least. I do agree with getting pre-nups, using condoms, and things like that, though. Also, Child support is only 18-19 years, IIRC... or when they graduate high school. Or something like that. So, it will end. Haha.

In response to LinkPizza, yes, to win custody would stop of this, but since I'm paying for her lawyer, I can't afford my own. I can't afford travel expenses for them to delay court dates repeatedly, as they have done for years.

Secondly, we are in different states, with her being in Texas, one of the most unfriendly to fathers in the country. I've also recently become disabled, so what little money I get my hands on goes to feeding my family. I have a wife and three children with me, and we are barely making it. My two older children are teenagers now, so the child support will end in a few years, but in the last year alone (since I've become disabled), I've fallen $18,000 behind. They will not stop billing me, despite my circumstances. I called them and begged them to find some kind of arrangement, they refused, and said, and I quote, "We don't have to make any arrangements for you, it's your fault that you are a deadbeat, you are more than welcome to take us to court, but we are the Office of The Attorney General of Texas, it's our court, so good luck with that. "

I'm sure it's easy for someone that has the time and money, but I'm neither. I have been railroaded from the very beginning, and I honestly think it's more likely that I will be taken from my home and driven across the country to sit in a cell than getting custody.

This is the truth of the system. Money rules everything. Don't have it? Eat shit.
