Because we have a contextual history of people using the word "boy" to be insulting. It's a way to speak down on someone. It becomes even worse when the person's race is put in front of it.

The only context I've ever heard of where being called boy is insulting is when the person is black, since historically boy has been used in a demeaning manner towards that group. Pretty sure that same context doesn't exist for white people though. If anything, the only one here misconstruing social context is you.

It's not racist though. White men haven't been demeaned by nonwhite people of all ages for half a millennium by being called "white boys". There's no implicit "I'm better than you" when a black guy calls a white guy "white boy".

Whether it's racist or not is an entirely different argument that I haven't approached yet. We are talking about offensiveness and insulting. When someone's race is placed in front of the word "boy" in this sort of context it becomes even more insulting because it has a touch of personalization.

Okay, it is kind of insulting to be called a boy by a complete stranger, but it's also not a big deal. It's the kind of insult that opens you up to even more ridicule if you let people know you were upset by it, because it's nothing to really be ashamed about.

I just finished with a job where a bunch of Somali kids were asking around for drugs openly, got in a fight with people at a hotel, and vandalized a truck.

We couldn't risk firing them because they were screaming racism the whole time they were being 'persecuted', now they're just not allowed back to any of the companies involved.
