Peh. They should have thought about releasing content months ago. I tried it during launch and was annoyed that instead of maps and modes all they were doing was focusing on lootboxes. There was like 1 map, maybe 2 characters, and the modes were all quickly removed. I got fed up and moved to better games. It was a slow grind anyway, didn't even make it to level 50.

They waited too long to get started. The lootboxes weren't even a good mechanic. It took hours of play to get one and when I did it was all stickers. You think I'd unlock a skin once in a while or at least some coins, but no they were extremely rare. Ended up with around 800 coins total.

The characters made no difference to me. All I used was the rocket launcher girl I forgot the name of. Tried the rest but she made the game feel a little like Quake 2 so I stuck with that. Then as I said the modes and events didn't last long enough so it got boring faster than it should have. For as much as people hype Blizzard I don't see what's so special about them.

The new Doom. Honestly it makes Fartnite and OW look like trash. I know they're slightly different games but look at the gameplay itself and the fact it does not revolve around forcing people to buy loot. Blizz needs to go back to whatever crap they used to make and leave the shooters to companies with experience.

It's probably going to be Hammond judging by that trailer.

So you think Blizzard is forcing people to buy loot? I don't remember spending a penny on loot and I was still able to play the actual game.

The main focus of this game, and any other MOBA (yes, I'm going to refer to OW as a MOBA) is the competitive mode. The team-vs-team mode and not the events or modes that come along with events.

Also, it's funny that you're complaining about being forced into buying loot but then also complain that it takes to long to get that loot.

You can't be serious. Of course they do - if you want a skin you gotta buy it. They never show up randomly and like I said it would take several years to earn enough coins to buy one. I forget how long I played, maybe 80 hours? Only got 30 some odd boxes and a pitiful 800 coins. They should have worked on non-loot content. I wanted maps and modes. Got one map and the modes vanished after a week.

Oh I absolutely agree. I wouldn't devalue my collection with a CoD game. Not even once. However I wouldn't call OW good because they compare themselves to the slime at the bottom of the barrel. There are way better games with lots more content.

Lol no skins are buyable with coin, not only that but you can earn 3 lootboxes a week from arcade and one from every level up.

Anyhow, taking a break from overwatch since ive been playing it since fall 2016, and I need to play other games. I will show up for the next event but won't get back into it heavily til they release another hero and a map, oh plus that damned torb rework.

You must be unlucky with OW because I've played probably twice as much as you since launch and have almost every skin. As you play more, you get more coins from loot boxes duplicate items give you coins..

They release new stuff pretty regularly and it's almost always pretty good. Might not be the perfect game for your taste but tons still play it and it's still very heavily supported. I still play and have a lot of fun doing so. As for COD...not my thing.

Also, special modes don't vanish after a week. The event stuff usually lasts quite a bit (month or so IIRC) and even when nothing is going on you can get some via arcade which keeps multiple modes in constant rotation.

And even THEN I find it very difficult to believe you went through 30 boxes and got 0 skins. Maybe if you were referring to an epic skin, but the more common ones? You should have gotten at least, like, six or seven over 30 boxes.

And even THEEEN... With 800 coins you weren't too far away from being able to basically buy any skin you wanted.

AND EVEN THEEEEEEENNNNN... Overwatch has been getting a constant stream up updated content. We've gotten six new heroes since launch along with six new 'normal' maps and all the specialized maps for other modes such as arena.

So really? Your complaints sound less grounded and more like you just didn't like the game and are trying to badmouth it to justify your dislike despite not having played it a lot. If you don't like it or weren't good at it, that's entirely fine... but complaining about a lack of new content (despite frequent champions and skins and events) and not getting any skins in their lootboxes (which sounds awfully suspicious) doesn't help your case.

Did they change that? I'm damn near certain the fancy skins could be traded for if you had an asston of coins. That was how they encourage you to give them money, by dropping the odds. I will never pay for loot in any game, so the fact I couldn't change the colors on my character was another reason why the game stunk.

Probably. I wasn't planning on sticking around long enough to see if things get better. The maps and modes at the time got stale. I heard duplicate items would change to coins but that's another way Blizz screws you - each new update gives more stickers so you don't get dupes, don't get coins, and maybe get frustrated enough to pay up. They had their chance and from what I've seen Blizz is overhyped.

I'd have to look but don't think so. Was stuck using defaults for the characters I tried. It's possible they changed the costs. 800 wasn't very close from what I recall. And that's all I received, it's not like I spent any coins. They're too rare.

Already stated they took too long and I quit playing a while ago. 6 characters now doesn't fix the broken promises of content back near launch.

Iirc, you could always buy normal skins with coins, but you couldn't buy event skins with coins until maybe about a year ago

nah, only event you couldn't buy them for was the first summer games. blizz fixed that pretty fast.

About what? I don't have the numbers in front of me, they're approximate. I know I didn't get the trophy for rank 50 so there's that much.

Start the game. See any new modes? Probably not. Rocket kept hockey and the mode with the toys. Is it that hard to leave a spot in the menu for the Halloween shooting gallery or the snowball freeze tag?

My backlog is too big to fight with bad games. They didn't give me a reason to stay so I didn't.

Good point. I'm assuming it's a new hero, because they're hinting at a big PTR update coming soon, it's almost July, there's always a new hero in July, and its been several months since Brigitte, so it would be about time for a new hero anyway. Also, we can see the monkey in the spacesuit in the middle, and the Horizon map reworks strongly hints at a monkey escaping the moon along with Winston.

Yeah I'm really not sure about it either. Since he's small, and presumably quick, he would most likely be a dps... when dps are already a bit oversaturated, and Tank players a really hurting for some love.

Same, I didn't have a choice. Those fools locked the competitive mode. I said I don't recall exactly. Time between 60-80 hours and rank like 30-40. It was a horrible grind and a good thing I wasn't trying to collect loot. It was mostly solo (no group bonus) as a few people begged me to play a few games then moved to competitive where I couldn't go.
