1. Immersion. It's used by many people who have this crippling need to have video games trick their brain into thinking they're in some highly lucid dreamworld. I can play a game fine without forgetting I'm some meatbag sitting in front of a display screen, thanks. What I consider immersion breaking is a power outage, or a game breaking glitch, not some damn minor annoyance. Thankfully this term is rarely used anymore
2. Aged badly. A very subjective term. I've heard most people imply graphics so they say games like FF7 is unplayable because it looks too ugly. Some say Golden Eyes because of controllers. Some say it's just old games that are unplayable compared to now. Some say it's just not fun as the first time. What a dumbass term. 3. Pacing. What is considered good pacing? Another subjective term. Some say RE4 has great pacing because it keeps you enticed but a lot of it doesn't make sense like when Thoughts? Comments? Opinions? --- I'm Veggeta X's alt ... Something being subjective doesn't make it no longer have a definition.

Basically, if you're trying to get rid of meaningless descriptors, these are not the buzzwords you're looking for. They are meaningless because they are subjective meaning they can mean different things for people. What's immersive to you can be dumb as shit to me. --- I'm Veggeta X's alt ... Copied to Clipboard!

Let's not trip. Fun and beautiful aren't buzzwords. They have a backboned definition where as aged badly isn't.

Just because these are subjective terms doesn't mean they're meaningless buzzwords. A lot of times people don't even know what they mean when they use these words. It's an endearing term so people use it to maximixe or minimize their gaming experience. --- I'm Veggeta X's alt ... Copied to Clipboard!

ye aged badly is extremely subjective cause all it means is you've gotten used to better graphics or different controls. a lot of modern games have streamlined controls to make it easier to play and this makes older games seem like they've aged badly to some people. but theres a lot of games nowadays that still have clunky controls or not great graphics and you can't say they've aged badly because they just came out

One gaming term that bugs me is "open world."
Mostly because it denotatively describes the game world but people use it to describe objectice structure. It's true that the two tend to go together, but not always. For example, Arkham Asylum has an open game world but a (mostly) linear objective structure. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
