A gay or non-white exists in it and they're a main character.

Agreed. I've always found it to be an odd thing to take issue over.

Changing the race/sex of an established character in order to attract members of a particular minority to the product.

Example: That brutal 2015 Fantastic Four movie. There was absolutely no reason to make Johnny Storm black other than somebody decided the movie needed a black person in it.

When a character is put in something just to be there and used to generate good will or "brownie points" for the writer of said character. When they trot the character out as some kind of statement of how inclusive they are rather than just letting the character speak for itself. It feels more like a prop than an actual character.

I guess so. But I see this complaint for stuff like Star Wars that uses new characters.

What's an example of this?

When is it this and not just them putting a minority character in a movie?

Can this complaint ever be used for white Americans?

Yeah I would say the Star Wars thing is just normal diversity. You asked about FORCED diversity.

Yes and I've seen people say that for a lot more than just changing established characters.

Michael B. Jordan was probably the only good thing about that movie, so not sure that's the best example.

Tom Hardy's an amazing actor....does that mean it would have been cool to cast him as T'Challa?

I just find it a weird hill to die on. What's there to get huffy about? A movie is marketed towards someone other than yourself? Big whoop.

Think about how many movies, shows and games over the years that were passed over because studios were too worried about it not being appealing enough to white American dudes in their 20's because of attitudes like this.

How many people relate to the Human Torch because he's a white American though?

Race & ancestry & spiritualism is an essential part of the character of TChalla.

Does CE really need to have his argument again?
