The only person I know who has had a sex change (MtF) was pretty much disowned by her family. Thankfully though she got lots of support from friends. My mother's been super supportive. My father was pissed originally. He has reason to be, but I did what I did the way I did for a reason. When I told him I was trans, he cried into my shoulder, pleading for me not to get the surgery the following night, because he had a nightmare about me dying in the surgery. Well, my surgery was already on the table and eventually, it was a month away and I was thinking about telling him, but then I knew he'd be super "NO" about it, plus constant nightmares and all that. The day of the operation, I sent him a text telling him I was there for it. He blew up, but not until after I was taken in. I held it from him up to this point because once I got out of the surgery, he would have nothing to fear, and he didn't. He was pissed I never told him I was going to get it done prior, but it was for the best. I didn't want him freaking out every day until it happened. Now? The day of the operation, I sent him a text telling him I was there for it. He blew up, but not until after I was taken in. I held it from him up to this point because once I got out of the surgery, he would have nothing to fear, and he didn't.
