Sonic is the edgy alternative to Mario.
Then came Metal Sonic and Knuckles: edgier foils/rivals to Sonic. Then Shadow, an edgier alternative. Then Silver... Then there was that guy who was like Shadow's Shadow, an edgier alternative to Shadow. And Infinite in the newest Sonic is an even edgier alternative to Shadow. Sonic as a franchise is trapped in a loop of Edgier-Than-Thou that threatens to destroy the universe in a tangible explosion of Edge. --- I am snazzier, hot, hot rant. Warily slight as.
