Simple solution, don't break the law, and if you do, don't get caught.

What is the law in Mexico if an illegal alien who illegally crossed Mexico's southern border is caught trying to cross into America illegally?

Children being held in cages is actually very black and white imo.

Except that isn't actually happening:

I was not referring to that cherry picked image.

Literally from the same twitter user, 2 replies down from the post:
"It is a holding facility. People whove been detained, after crossing the border, illegally, are processed here and held for no more than 72 hours."

That's not "Children being held in cages". If they were being imprisoned there for some significant period of time, I would completely agree. A makeshift setup to keep them from being in one big group for a few days isn't the same. What would be worse is if they could just... run away.

Great point however why cages?

Literally children, literally cages.

Pulling children as young as 5 from their parents without warning and placing them in a cramped cage (or "chained partition" if you prefer the spin that's appeared in certain circles) for up to 72 hours, is significant.

Here's the President of the American Academy of Pediatrics explaining the long term effects of this abuse.

If you have a source that proves these children are afterwards immediately placed into their parents' care, or barring that, a place that is equipped to care for them beyond the bare minimum so as not to cause further stress, now's your chance to post it.

Must be hard for responsible parents who have to handle children from irresponsible parents. Hopefully things will change. They crossed illegally as a family send them back as a family

Then, bypass the conservatives, or at the very least try to counteract them.

Does anybody here know what these kids go through getting here? Their parents fucking sell their kids virginity to rich foreigners for fucks sake. They get sexually assaulted on trains by older people etc.etc. holding them in a little cell or fenced in isn't going to hurt them worse than they've already been hurt by their irresponsible parents.

I fully support congress changing the law to deal with cases like this, because it's their fucking job and I wish we'd put more pressure on them in general to fix things rather than complain that the president should over-extend his use of executive action to bypass the law making process, or that agencies should arbitrarily not enforce the law.

That being said, I kind of wish the bill was longer. It doesn't address the inherent conflict that this new law would cause in terms of minor rights. Specifically, how do you keep the child with the parent (who can request expedited processing) when minors are unable to request such changes? Moving the minor with the expedited processing would be a violation of the law, but telling parents they can no long request expedited processing would be a violation of theirs. The bill, in trying to push out a good fix, seems to have created a legal catch 22. I hope they vote to pass it, but to be honest I'm not sure if it would survive the courts if challenged.
