They're saying they want the exact same game but with modern graphics. That's not what a remake is. Grow up.

Games should never be remade unless it was a good idea just poorly executed at the time.

Problem is they only remake good games, whats the point?

To make them readily accessible and appreciable to newer generations?

A remake doesn't have to be an entirely new genre.

Look at Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes. Took MGS2's engine, which was built upon from the original MGS1 and still remained a sneaking game.

Wild ARMs: Alter Code F took Wild ARMs 3's turn-based system, which was built upon and improved from the previous two games, and remained a turn-based game.

Even Super Mario All-Stars constitutes a remake. It didn't have to change the gameplay.

Trauma Center: Second Opinion also had nearly the exact same gameplay as Trauma Center: Under The Knife, and included entirely new character portraits, graphics, music, storyline, and a new bonus chapter. The game retained the same gameplay as the original.

Similar to Super Mario All-Stars, NiGHTS: Into Dreams received a remake on PS2 in Japan that had remade graphics, including an option to play with the original graphics if needed.

Ocarina of Time 3D was an impressive remake featuring not just new quality-of-life stuff regarding the menu, but more strikingly, the graphics were completely remade.

See how all these remakes didn't need to change the gameplay to an entirely new genre? Or have to change the gameplay at all?

If there's something specific that people liked about a game then an effort should be made to include that thing in the remake. If you don't then it's at least wasted potential, and at worst it makes it more of a reimagining, not a true remake.

Yeah remakes should fix issues. No it's not good to run at a frame per second in blightown just because you find it nostalgic.

Also bad games shouldn't be remade but if their premise was good it should get spiritual, and improved, successors
