It's definitely Ree-You. Over the times people realized this and most now pronounce it like that.

Pretty sure the correct way is ree-you. But when I was a kid I called him Roo. I still think thats cooler but I know its incorrect.

Ree-oo is the correct way

Or actually, in Japanese it would be pronounced with a Y consonant coming immediately after the R. Like the phrase "are you" but without the first vowel sound.
