The story was a little hard to follow for sure, and having side characters just drop off the face of the earth once they join your party was a little disappointing, but everything else in the game is magical. The atmosphere, the music, the main characters, the feeling, the environments. It is just such a comfy game to go back and play every once in awhile. It would still have incredibly bizarre tonal whiplash as it's a game with a tiny spaceman and a dancing voodoo doll with a nail in it for party members while you go through depressing lectures about existentialism by some writer who half-remembers what it is. It'd also still be a game that beats on and on about how humanity's destroying nature when the game world you see is like a tropical, tree-filled paradise with human communities demonstrably living with nature.
