If not, get a standard folding knife. Balisong/butterfly knives can open as fast as a switchblade and can be flipped in tight spaces making them useful for mugging situations. You have to get close and look like you're losing then flip the blade and slice their arm then gtfo. Never pull out your weapon unless they threaten and strike first. You should avoid confrontation if possible as it should always be a last resort. You never know how capable your opponent is.
