A lot of people seem to talk about this and the Accord as being affordable and reliable.

Accords are a bit big. I'm used to my subcompact Kia. But I'll test those too if I can.

As opposed my 08 Rio, it would still be an improvement.

I've always appreciated how common they are because it means people have a lot of trust in them and their reliability. It also means there's a lot of support out there to keep them running, plenty of secondhand parts you can buy on the cheap, and a lot general knowledge about operation and maintenance. I don't care much about cars outside of their continued viability at meeting my transportation needs, so all of these things really appeal to me. If they appeal to you too, then I'd strongly consider that or a comparable economy class vehicle.

I had a '98 Civic for about a year and never had a single issue with it. It's the most reliable car I ever owned.

Theyre good, but the one I used to own had one of the worst transmissions of any vehicle Ive ever driven.

best car as far as compacts go. Corolla might be a bit cheaper but it feels A LOT cheaper once you drive it.

The Civic's insurance might be a little bit higher than the Rio, but there's tons of positives with the Civic and they have a cool design too. The Vtec engine is supposed to help with fuel consumption.

There's also the newer Toyota Yaris if you're looking for a hatchback.

I have had an '08 Civic for over 5 years now and it's been a phenomenal car in terms of reliability and gas mileage. It is a boring car as a few have mentioned but if you're just looking for something that'll last then go for it.

Accords are a bit big.

Not if your first car was a 1983 Oldsmobile 98 Regency with the Continental kit.

19.3 feet long and 7 feet wide.

I had an 02 civic that is still going strong after I gave it to my family. I have an 08 accord with 120000 miles and the only issue I had was a recent one where I just had to have my a/c recharged.

Ive owned 4 civics
93 hatchback
01 hatchback
12 si sedan
17 si sedan

When i traded in the 12, i got a 3rd of the value i paid, i call that pretty good.
The si is fun and i like the 17 better than the 12 but also loved the 12. Super reliable.
I bought the si in Canada and i heard the si in the USA doesnt have the nav display. I wouldnt like it as much if it didnt have the nav display (andriod auto + waze is so key)

Yeah. The Civic is a car that will have no trouble getting you from point A to point B and unlike American vehicles, aren't designed to break every 10k miles.

People who think a car is "boring to drive" and makes a vehicle not worth it are the stupidest people on earth.

"Yeah bro I'd just rather have a muscle car or a truck that gets 17mpg and will cost me a fortune if I try to drive it cross country because it will start breaking"
