Of course, i'm talking about fine scotch!

Balvenie 12 year old Double Wood.

Aged in sherry oak and whisky oak

im new to scotch so i dont know what to make of it. i dont hate it but im not detecting much in smell or taste but I am a nooblet.

Drinking it straight? Ive personally ever only known old men to do that and be able to detect much subtly in flavor

When I first fell in love with scotch it was over the smells. Just tossing it back doesn't do much for me, it's something I'd pour when I'm looking to sit down and relax.

Many scotches can be extremely peaty which could overwhelm the senses, especially if it's not something you're accustomed to.

I can't offer any personal insights into Balvenie, never had it, but scotches are amazingly diverse and it could be that one's just not for you.
