I'd say East, but that's because I live on the East Coast. Part of what made Fallout 3 so enjoyable was that its setting was a place I've been to.

I know Fallout, Fallout 2, and NV are truer to what Fallout is actually supposed to be, but I just don't care for the setting quite as much.

West is better because the setting was in better games. The first 2 and New Vegas obviously had more care put into them. The Capital Wasteland and The Commonwealth had some good and even some great places/ideas/lore/vibes, but I don't think they were as good as they potentially could be.

I hope the next real installment is set somewhere else though. We need a southern or mid-western Fallout not counting those spin off games.

West. I live in California, the writing of the West Coast games is much better, Fallout: New Vegas has better gameplay than 3 and 4, and I personally prefer the desert environment over the woodlands/urban of the East Coast.

Technically, DC/Virginia/Maryland are Southern (as well as West Virginia which 76 takes places in), but we haven't had a Deep Southern Fallout yet.

Id say east just cuz the historical aspect I feel plays well into what America became in the Fallout Universe. Id like them to redo Chicago and make it cannon. Perhaps have the whole game take place within the city limits and make the most expansive city scape in any Fallout.

We had a simulation. I would have been happy if they didnt underutilize the memory den and let you go back and play as the SS during his combat tour in Alaska. Seeing the contrast between General Chase's egotistical recreation and what really went down. Besides the battle of Anchorage was a year long battle in a 11 year war.

No, that was pre-Fallout and a limited linear DLC. I'm talking about a full game set in Alaska after the boom. There is so much lore there and so much opportunity. Not only can you have abandoned military structures and Chinese bases to explore, you could have some sort of cold mechanic for a survival mode. On top of that, you could have things like mutated reindeer and polar bears.

West, but despite the shortcomings Bethesda has some neat stuff on the east

I get how people feel this way, but the setting is so intrinsically tied to America's 1940's era that it probably wouldn't translate well to other areas.

I'm fairly certain there is no way to know that anymore short of stealing a Brotherhood airship and flying it over the ocean.
