Got the SNES Classic and randomly threw on Super Metroid and my God that game was absolute art and one of the greatest video game experiences ive ever had.

Almost done with Metroid Fusion now and though its almost a completely opposite type of game, its just as satisfying.

Next comes Zero Mission, then the Prime trilogy and ill cap it off with Samus Returns.

Bright side is you didn't have to go years thinking a series you loved was dead, since they're making more now. In fact, there's a decent chance we'll hear a bit more about Prime 4 soon.

Yep, Metroid's an awesome series. Very few games in the series are straight up bad. They're a bit of a niche but if it snatches you...oh my God they're so good. Metroid Prime 1 is basically one of my outright favorites in the series. Can't wait to see something of Prime 4 (may be this E3!)

I tried to play through Super Metroid about 4 times since I was a kid and would get stuck at the same place every time. I looked it up a couple years ago and it turns out I was too stupid to realize there was a run button so I got salty and haven't played it since lol

Play Samus Returns for sure, but only after Zero Mission.

ZM is my favorite 2D Metroid.

I own Metroid Prime Trilogy, but haven't played it yet. Not really a big fan of having to use the Wii remote for all three games.

Only other ones I've played are Super Metroid and Zero Mission. Both very good.

A majority of the series has incredible replay value. Look into time records / how percentage completion rates go as far as the ending screens you get. It can prove to be fairly addicting.

Started Zero Mission a little while ago, finally got to hear the classic Metroid theme in-game. Only ever heard it in Smash Bros.

Going from Fusion which was a completely linear and straightforward journey back to the amount of freedom this game has is insane. I feel like ive accidentally stumbled upon abilities im not supposed to have yet.

Zero Mission was made for sequence breaking. I think it may be my favorite out of the 2D games.

Thats next once I finish Zero Mission. Even though that game is 15 years old, as of now I only know 2D side scrolling Metroid so im weirdly excited for 3D Metroid.

They did more than just make it 3D with Metroid Prime. They created the most immersive world in gaming history. There is a function where you scan items/creatures to get detailed information about them. Scan everything. Don't miss a beat, bro. EXPERIENCE this world!

Lol I think I know the area youre talking about. Its in Brinstar Green where you have to run to get past the closing gates. That one took me a little while too before I realized there was a run button

I only played it like two or three years ago and I had to do the exact same thing.

I didn't play a lot of Wii games so this doesn't mean much, but MP3 was the best Wiimote controls I've encountered. The Wiimote works very well for first person games.

Youll pretty much get all the good stuff with the games you have already listed, but since its cheap as fuck now you could probably try Other M. The gameplay is really different, but the familiar power ups are there. The story has issues and all that stuff everybody hates about it, but I thought the gameplay itself was okay. I enjoyed Ninja Gaiden Black a lot though and they are similar in gameplay/camera (made by the same studio).

I recently replayed Metroid Prime: Hunters story mode and it is repetitive, but its also okay. The game introduces some interesting characters and its in the same FPS style as Metroid Prime, so I would recommend it if you end up liking the Prime games. Im not sure where you could buy it though, pretty old game now and Ive never really seen it used at any stores.
