1. He will realize he is bad at economics and trade and will reverse his protectionist tariffs. Things go back to normal.
2. He will double-down on his bad ideas, forcing former allies to find new friends so they no longer depend on the USA for anything. Decline accelerates.

I wonder what will happen... He even admitted to making up the whole "deficit to Canada" thing, as America has a surplus with them (and, iirc, only them).

They're future-proofing themselves in various anyways. Hard to have any kind of long-term economic outlook for your country if one of your major trade partners has bipolar disorder that rears it's ugly head multiple times a decade

Canada and Mexico have the TPP while the EU itself has a lot of collective bargaining power because of the overall wealthiness of the region and relatively high population. Trump is painting Americans into a corner right now because he's arrogant and forgets that China is in the process of completely subverting and replacing the nation. I bet Xi Jinping is not without a constant smile right now. Sure, it's not happening right this second, but shifts of this magnitude are more gradual. The problem is that reversing the tide will be impossible past a certain point. Look at the damage the 1% and their propaganda mill have caused... They've been strip-mining the place since Reagan and it's starting to show.
