I didn't forget. I hadn't seen a star wars movie besides battle for endor till I was 28 and that was still one of the biggest slaps in the face I've seen in any movie franchise ever.

Anyway, I actually thought at first that the scene was how they were going to fit Carrie Fisher's death into the plot, so when she got blasted into space I thought 'well, unorthodox, but interesting way to do it, hmm.'

Barely a minute later, however, I was rewarded with what is possibly the stupidest single movie scene for the entire franchise.

2) Exactly. No training. If freaking Mace Windu can't fly back up to re-engage Palpatine and Anakin, how do you justify an untrained schmuck with questionable potential surviving an even more extreme situation?

That scene was ludicrous. I heard no less than three people saying 'well, that's stupid' out loud when I first watched it in the cinema, while the scene was playing.

In the EU it was recovered and his hand was used to make the evil "Luuke Skywalker" clone >__>

For me, it wasn't that they did it, it's how the scene was shot. It just looks so horrible and cheesy. The lighting on Leia doesn't even match her surroundings.

Its not about the lore, its about removing any consequence and emotional weight from the scene. The entire movie was full of moments that werent deserved and werent allowed to resonate, and the single time they almost got something right, they butterfingered it hard
