Im a newbie. I dont know if im doing this correctly so please let me know if im doing it wrong.
I went to the gym 3 days in a row. I worked my back, triceps and biceps on the first day. I did 3 sets of 10, the last few reps of the last sets are close to failure. I did my back again because they didnt hurt on the second day. Did shoulder and chest and abs. Third day i did all the leg muscles and then abs again because they didnt hurt. 4th day i rest, the triceps and sides of my pectorals really hurting. So i stayed in on the 5th day too. Theres still a faint bit of pain now. But should i continue to lift tomorrow? --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yes but remember that having a rest day or two for your muscles to recover is key too. that helps with the gains.

if its muscle soreness it should be ok to continue, i always did when i used to lift.
i would stop lifting if i got tendon soreness, however. that shit can be serious if you keep stressing it. --- -Only dead fish swim with the current http://error1355.com/ce/spudger.html ... Copied to Clipboard!

I remember pulling one in my forearm while playing tennis. Took like 3 months to heal. Especially when i went back too early and i damaged it again. Shit is serious. Same as TC, but Ive been doing my entire body every day. I read that the fastest you can go is to work on a specific muscle twice a week. So you can let it rest 3-4 days. The resting is just as important as working/tearing them. I suppose you can do full body on say monday then not lift and only do cardio for the next days then lift again on thursday. But my current plan is to do upper body pt1 on day 1, upper body pt2 on day 2. Legs on day 3. Rest day 4. Then repeat. And i run 3/4 mile and jog 1/4 on the treadmill for warm up on each day too. But yeah, my problem is my muscle soreness putting me behind schedule. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

@Big_Nabendu
Thanks! That makes perfect sense. When working the chest, you usualy push out thus working the triceps too. And shoulders too. And biceps and back go together. Yes that must have been my mistake. Thank you for this plan. Is it okay that I put the off day on thursday then shift the rest down? @spudger Man i hope you make full recovery soon. I was scared when i injured my tendon because i didnt know when i would be fully healed. Waiting months without confirmation from a doctor is a very very long time. A good gauge is this:
If you feel soreness in the muscle but it mostly goes away once you've warmed up the muscle group and you can go through the exercise without any notable pain, you're fine. Make sure you're doing dynamic warm ups before you start hitting the weights though. If it stills hurts after you've warmed up, your muscles are overworked or strained. This isn't necessarily true. You can be sore and not be overtrained. You can and should work through soreness if it's what your program prescribes so your body adapts to the stimulus you're putting it under.
