It is isnt it?

Anyway I would also like to see some police reform, no need to be so trigger happy with swat teams and such

So whats the current law and punishment on swatting? The people who do it should definitely be charged for attempted murder. And it should be more serious because they are using the police to do it too.

Should be 50-60 years in jail with no parole. When they get out they will be old and with no family to bury them when they die.

So, is "swatting" calling the police with some fake info, to get the S.W.A.T to bust up someone else's door and take them?

Yes. People usually do it to popular streamers, though it has expanded outside of that area.

Should be a criminal act and have harsh penalties, people have died due to swatting, innocent people who had no idea what was going on other then the swat team busting down their door reasy to kill.

Yeah, swatting is really nasty. Not only is it wasting the time of law enforcement in a huge(and expensive way) and causing them to doubt reports of swat-worthy activity, it inevitably results in property damage and serious trauma for the victim. Potentially including serious physical, mental, and/or emotional harm or even death. It should be treated as a felony, and a swatting resulting in death or trauma treated as similarly severe to the relevant crime(i.e. assault, attempted murder or even straight-up murder, as relevant).

Not to mention SWAT teams seem really good at randomly killing dogs that live in the houses they raid.

Attempted murder seems harsh as a cut and dry thing. But I have no issue with it being a felony with possible jail time and/or a significant fine.

Its like driving a car at someone and hoping they dodge out of the way.

You get a swat team sent to an address and hope they (or hope they dont) act in such a way that results in them not getting shot

Of course its attempted murder

Some sort of charge with a harsh penalty, i'd be fine with.
But calling it attempted murder without proof that a death was the intended consequence is utter bullshit.

From what I'm seeing he got jailed for involuntary manslaughter. A couple of months ago there was a glitch that allowed inmates in his area to go online and he returned to Twitter to call himself an 'eGod" and threatened to swat again.

He's scheduled to appear in court again later this month. No official sentence has been made.

I think calling it attempted murder is a bad idea

Think about it, threaten someone with a bomb, and they will call the police. If you make them think you're in a house you aren't actually in, you get those people swatted instead, and the person you actually want to harass goes to jail for murder.

Yeah, this. Maybe have it be attempted murder depending on the exact circumstances.

Charge them for attempted murder, accessory to any crimes that happen when those police are engaged and make them pay all costs associated with the wasted time. If someone dies then first degree murder.
