Ok so Loki in that movie had 2 infinity stones, the mind and space stones and he used them to brainwash people and give the chikari a portal to earth respectively. My question is, it is heavily implied he was working for Thanos (if not confirmed by Infinity War) so why didn't Thanos backstab Loki and take his stones? Hell why give Loki a stone at all? The mind stone had to have come from somewhere so was Thanos willingly giving up one of his stones?

He wanted Loki to subjugate the earth. This would make it easier for him to secure more stones.
