...we observed a bird use the automatic doors, twice.

It would swoop down, under the eye and land on the hanging forklift safety bar to wait for the door to open then fly out.

It was awesome to see.

Birds are smart. Like using cars to open nuts. Or using tools. They have videos of them doing really cool stuff sometimes.

Have you never watched how say a cucumber plant grows?
Plants are clever as well, you should just stop eating.

Before they took them out birds used to use the automatic drinking fountains all the time at my work to bath in. They would just jump in them and activate the sensor, then fly off whenever they were done.
