I personally love Snow and dont quite understand the hate towards him, whereas I'm replaying XIII again and still feel the same towards Light: she fucking sucks!

Hope is whiny, but imo doesn't reach Light levels of dick-headed-ness. and he's alright in XIII-2 whereas Light becomes a norse god out of nowhere, lol.

It wasn't a shit response. The games are bad and their stories are a mess. The characters are all equally as bad.

Hope was whiny after the moms are tough incident, and him blaming Snow was SUPER annoying, but I'm okay w him otherwise

If we go from game to game Snow is probably the most consistently good character.

Hope was nothing but a whiny bitch through most of XIII bit got better in 2 and was meh in 3.

Lightning was ok in XIII even if she was a bit of a bitch. Other than that she was pretty terrible in 2 but got better in 3.

All three were bad, but Snow was the worst. Lightning is just generic and boring and Hope is a shitty plagiarism of Ken Amagi from Persona 3, done even worse. But holy shit.. ALL of Snows dialogue

None of them are bad. I love all three of them because each of them is unique.

I don't know how to describe them without spoiling it for everyone...so here's my attempt:

Lightning is tough, and the way she speaks makes it sound monotonous almost as if there are no feelings behind her every speech. But behind that tough shell she cares a lot for her sister, Serah.

Hope is a boy with a grudge who took things the wrong way. Later in the series he has grown a lot, and makes contributions to the world.

Snow is sort of stubborn as in he never gives up. But he has good intentions.

but serah is a much better main character than lightning
serah being the lead is a big reason why i think 13-2 works so much better than 13 and lightning returns

Tough call. Its down to Snow and Hope, for me. The segment where Hope traveled with Lightning was funny because she was constantly riding him for being too weak and slow.

Lightning was just a meh female Cloud while Snow and Hope were truly annoying. Snow wins for me because he just moans on about the same thing in almost every bit of dialogue while Hope at least changed topics once in a while.

Lightning is a bitch but it's understandable why she's a bitch. In a way she has a lot in common with Sazh. Sazh just deals with it differently.

Yeah. Unlike Hope, who blames Snow for his mother's death, despite Snow trying to get her to stay behind like 4 times.

Assuming just the original 13:

It's like they went out of their way to make snow as annoying as they could; preachy AF, never stops talking, and unintelligent.

Hope being annoying makes sense in context, he's a spoiled teenage rich kid who opens the game by watching his mom die, of course he's going to complain a lot.

Lightning gets compared to Cloud a lot but tbh I see a lot more Squall in her personality.

Lightning is harsh but caring
Snow is headstrong and committed to helping his friends and keeps his promises as best he can
Hope at least matures and tries to understand and improve things for everyone, even if he whined it was out of frustration and anger from what peace he knew being ripped away from him

The real worst character is Fang

Sazh cares and wants to do his best for his son but after chapter 8 in XIII, never does anything the rest of the series tbh
Vanille withheld important knowledge for so long and hurt those around her that were trying their best to help her, but does try to help everyone after chapter 8
Fang... She's suspicious of everyone, only sticks around for her focus and vanille, and then everything she did at the final showdown in XIII and sure she ultimately does the right thing but only after making things worse to begin with
