Every time I'm about to reach the top karma level they invent a new level above that.

I really wish this site had inbedded games that you could use spending karma on.

Remember when Gamefaqs realized that they were no longer the go to game guide site and were falling being against other website forums and how karma requirements and shit probably contributed to losing traffic on this site. Remember how once they realized they dont have a monopoly on game guides they relaxed up on rules and actually finally started to bring the boards to modern times.

to be frank, i don't give a shit about the quality of guides, individual game boards or any of that. i'm very strictly speaking as a native of this board. the message board format utilized by GameFAQs is absolutely ancient in terms of forum technology, but I can't blame the site/company for progressing as it did because of the nature of how we consume media. GameFAQs was obsolete the moment YouTube hit the scene

depends on the quality of the walkthrough/video. I've personally noticed a stark dropoff in quantity of walkthroughs on this site for modern games versus older ones (as well as quality, but that is subjective), which leads me to believe that the traditional "gamer guide" media has moved on

Well, I still think wiki and text walkthroughs are more useful for videos when looking up certain information like where to find certain items, prerequisites for a skill/move/quest/etc, stuff like that. If you're just looking on getting from point A to point B, then a video might be more useful, but I still found it annoying trying to find the right spot in the video without going too far and spoiling something. Text walkthroughs are faster for me, even if less clear on exactly must be done.

Random Insanity Online handled karma very well. "Spending Karma" allowed you to buy random things--like the ability to upload images and your own private board. I honestly liked it better than GameFAQs. The community wasn't toxic and we all really got along. Plus, they had a NSFW board where softcore porn could be posted.

only posted on RI a little bit, never got into its own unique culture. the only spinoff I'm familiar with is LL/EOTI, where you can post whatever the fuck you want as long as it's tagged appropriately and doesn't piss off the community as a whole too much
