Since the begining of humanity, no doubt. I'm not sure if actual relationships were acceptable until fairly recently, though. Like, we know for certain that anceint greeks were into orgy parties, where men stuck their penises into every whole available, but I'm not sure if it was acceptable for them to behave that way all the time.
