Shikamaru is one of the best characters to be honest. I think him, Gaara and Gai are the best.

The Immortals (Hidan and Kakuzu) arc sucked. Sakura goes back to being completely useless, Sai is useless and everyone in Team 8 aside from Shikamaru is useless.
