Kansas has a problem: It has a law allowing teachers to carry guns in the classroom, but almost no schools are using it because insurance companies refuse to provide coverage if they do. There are multiple reasons;
- It would cost lots of money to train and arm teachers. Teachers are already pretty underfunded. - Many teachers don't want to be armed. - The insurance issues you've stated before. - The actual usefulness of armed civilians varies wildly. ... Copied to Clipboard!

there's a difference between "arming teachers" and "allowing teachers to carry". the latter is what people want support for. not forcing 95 yr old mrs johnson to carry a glock on her hip

It really wouldn't matter if not a single teacher in the entire country actually carried - as long as they didn't publicize that that was the case. The primary aim of such a policy is the deterrent factor, not "hey a teacher might actually shoot a shooter". It's pretty much the same principle as nuclear weapons - you don't have them so that you can use them, you have them in the hope that having them means you'll never have to use them.
