I offered to help pay for their dish bill the past month.

...it was $112. This isn't even a premium movie channel package.

That's not their internet bill either. They have (I think) xfinity, and Dish Network on top of that. I've tried to tell them that 2-3 channels had all the stuff they watch, but they don't even want to try it.

They don't understand & hence they don't care. The ususal "old people excuse" is my guess.

My mom watches TV for when she's up, but has a Roku with netflix for bedtime.

They don't watch a lot of new-ish shows anyway.

And furthermore, they don't watch a lot of shows live. They watch shows similarly to streaming. They queue up entire shows in DVR, and binge them.
