I applied for a network engineer position with Amazon some time ago and thought I just wasn't selected. I'm not trying to leave my current job any more because they say they're about to hire me on full time, but...

Just talked to them. I told them I'm sticking around where I'm at for now, but to keep me in mind in the future if something changes.

no offense but hasnt this gone on for a really long time? i feel like you've been posting for a while that they keep telling you your permanent offer is coming in soon

Well, it has only been in the past few weeks that they've told me that they had approval to hire me on. The only thing I've heard for the vast majority of 2 years is "we're extending your contract because we don't have approval to hire someone else on." You're absolutely right, it has been a long ass time.

Then like a month ago, I heard from my the director of IT that "We're working on that, believe me." Then a couple weeks ago, the security architect told me that I'm gonna be hired on soon. He sees a list of everyone who gets hired/fired, so it seems to be the real deal now.

Yeah, that's why I left the door open with the Amazon recruiter. I told him a short story of what has been going on here. He said he should have something available for network engineers in Austin for maybe 6 - 9 months, so I'll reach out if something goes south.
