Honestly, I thought we'd be moving past the whole 5 year console cycle thing when this console cycle was mostly cross gen bullshit for the first two years.

PS4 came out 7 years after the PS3. It's been nearly 5 years since the PS4 came out, so the PS5 probably coming out in 2020. Fitting, too; new Playstation for a new decade, fam!

LOL the PS4 has already won this gen and has sold a shit ton of units. The PS5 is obviously underway, so they're obviously not gonna make the PS4 as much of a priority.

It's been confirmed that there's no release date being given at E3 this year.

0% chance they release the same year they announce it. End of 2020 earliest release.

It's such a weird time. It feels like PS4 is just *now* getting good and is actually worthy of a purchase thanks to God of War, Spider-Man and Horizon being out now. (along with Days Gone and TLOU2 coming)

but it's also like...why should I buy one (or at least a PS4 Pro) if we only got like two years left and there probably isn't going to be any more killer games on the way after TLOU 2?

There was that article a month or so ago saying Sony was probably going to launch ps5 in 2020-2021.

Honestly, the ps4 is really starting to show its age admittedly. Framerate issues are a staple of a lot of games for the system that aren't first party.

Witcher 3 is like 3 years old and still gets patches to improve performance on ps4.

I expect PS5 to be super expensive and have some sort of tied in VR system that will end up blowing up on them specacularly just like Kinect did for Microsoft.

Meanwhile, Microsoft will either produce a powerful console for a substantially cheaper price, secure some major sort of exclusive, or something else.that wins them favor with the general gaming audience.

Arkham City had the BatTank that ruined everything ever, Infamous 3 nobody asked for, God of War was a GoW game (lol), the Order 1886 flopped like it was ahead in a World Cup match and everything else was just a PS3 rerelease.

Idk why they don't just put out "console" pcs. Just put together a medium specd rig, mass produce it, and brand it. Most people are put off by pc gaming for 2 reasons, 1. how much it costs 2. "complications" of building a pc. If they just put out a standard pc build and market it I can imagine it'd do pretty well.

Microsoft isn't really notorious for copying Nintendo or Sony. At least not as bad as Sony is at copying everyone else.

I feel like Sony is trying way too hard to pressure Microsoft into releasing a new console early.

There is economically zero other reason to do all this speaking about a new Playstation because you don't want your potential consumers to go "oh, well I'll just wait for the new one".

Lol god damnit sony. I feel bad for everyone that got conned into buying a Pro

It feels so stupid to say that about any game, but thats a top 10 all-time gaming experience for me. Its so good that I cant honestly say I regret buying the PS4 despite being the only exclusive I put substantial time into.
