I work from 11pm to 11am, I have a hard cut off time of 3:30 where I prepare for bed and work that night. I'll then typically sleep from around 4:30 to 9 naturally. my alarm is for 10 though and I'll try to force in another hour before my alarm goes off. but when I wake up by the alarm, I feel more sluggish even though I technically had more rest. is it better to just wake up naturally and stay up till work?

Natural is better

This.

Forcing yourself can cause you to oversleep which just makes you more tired. Plus one hour in you'll probably be in deep sleep which is the worst to be woken up from.

sounds legit, I'll give it a shot tonight and see how it goes. I damn near 95% of the time wake up before my alarm
