Just finished Suikoden 1 and 2 with 108 recruits on both games. About to start part 3. What should I expect?

From what I read, the best way to do each character's chapters to get the most out of the story is:

Hugo 1-Chris 1- Geddoe 1-Thomas 1- Chris 2- Hugo 2-Geddoe 2-Geddoe 3-Hugo 3-Chris 3

Only check these if you're unsure where to start. I think Thomas 2 can be done whenever and everything will still make sense

It's a pretty good game, but it's not really on the same level as 1&2 imo. Felt much smaller in both scale and ambition compared, in particular, to 2. I think it suffers by having multiple protagonists. I loved Geddoes chapters though mostly cause his group has the best characters.

It's a good game, but suffers from unnecessary and painful backtracking. "Need to go from town A to town B? Please go through the forest area again."

But having three main character plots was an interesting idea that adds to the game. It's not as good as the first two games, but it is still a good game. The 4th and 5th games you can skip.

The 5th one is probably the second or third best. The 2nd is obviously the best, then either the 1st or 5th.
