I am a Christian who participates in the political process and votes for whomever I feel best represents my interest. If someone advocates things which are contrary to the Bible, I vote for the other guy.

A Christian, by definition is a follower of Christ. A follower of Christ knows that he is a follower of Christ because he does those things that Christ did on the Earth. If one calls himself a Christian but does not do those things that Christ did, he as at best a hypocrite and at worst a liar.

That's your problem. The dogma of religion IDing ultimately comes down to what a person says they are. If they say they're Christian that's that. Just because your Christian views allow you to judge others (which you shouldn't because Bible) doesn't make them not Christians. You can say they're crappy Christians or Sunday warriors or that one parable about the lazy youth during the harvest season, leaving crops out to rot. But they're still christian.
