I want to read something about some people using magic like fireballs and force blasts and stuff like that? Does that exist? I don't want like ritual magic. I want video game magic

The Malazan Book of the Fallen. There's not really a main character but several prominent characters are badass mages. Also the Wheel of Time has the kind of magic you're looking for.

Discworld series has a few with a mage as the main character and his travelling luggage. Colour of magic and a few other I don't recall off hand.

MOTHERFUCKING DRESDEN FILES.

Can't recommend this series enough. It is urban fantasy, though, not olde tymey or epic fantasy.

check out the Elminster series in the Forgotten Realms line of novels. Forgotten Realms is one of the Dungeons and Dragons worlds and the world where Drizzt lives, if you heard of him. it's where Baldurs Gate takes place. Elminster is that world's version of Gandalf. there is a series of novels about his life

Dresden shoots fire a lot, just not usually in a ball shape.

Yeah, a few of the Warcraft books feature mages as leads. Rhonin is the protagonist of the Dragon series, if I recall, and Khadgar features in a story that I can't recall the name of but it also has my boy Medivh.
