He did not say cheapest COOKING WINE, he just said our cheapest wine, for him to cook with. so he didn specify it had to be wine made for cooking.

So, since I was in a different store than my home store, and I dont know a ton about wines yet, instead of walking around all over the place, I looked in the aisle I was in and found a 4.99 bottle of Riesling.

I dont know if thats going to help him out but he bought it. Unless he actually wanted cooking wine, but he seemed happy with my selection because all he seemed to care about is price.

today it hit me, that I should have just grabbed him this stuff, which is a dollar cheaper and actually meant to be cooked with:

Or at least i know my mom uses it for cooking, and others have said so, too.

I felt like I could have helped the guy better, even if I didnt remember the go to cooking wine. I coulda asked him what he was making and stuff like that but all he seemed to care about was wine, any wine, at a low price.

god damn shoulda given him some carlos

Good on you for wanting to make sure he got the best outcome possible, that's a really nice trait and attitude to have. If it makes you feel any better, he isn't going to ruin his roast or whatever it is he's making by using a normal bottle of wine like that. Some people even prefer to use certain non-cooking wines because of the flavor it bestows.

Sometimes you cook with red, sometimes white.
