Probably because humans took the natural fruit that once existed, and altered it over time into something that they could actually eat. That was okay, but then when they altered it again, it was basically a contest to get the biggest fruit with the highest sugar content.

fuji apples and naval (?) oranges

i think it might be just foods high in fiber in general

A lot of fruits and some vegetables do the same thing to me. Apples are one I can immediately think of. Can't eat those without discomfort the same night. Peaches and bananas are two I like and they usually don't mess me up.

Meat on the other hand never gives issues. I can eat a huge medium rare/rare steak and be fine.

Maybe your body can't handle high fiber foods yet. When did you start eating these fruits?

so about a week or so ago, i ate four entire oranges in a single sitting thinking that wouldn't be too bad

unfortunately it was, and i have read/heard of easing yourself into fiber before, so for the past two nights i ate a single apple, but even those were too much

day after the first night wasn't too bad (or at least, not bad enough for me to not want to try again), but tonight i somehow got a sudden bout of diarrhea while at work, and pissed off my coworker cause i had to disappear to the restroom without notice for a while

fiber is supposedly the answer to everything digestion issue-related, but even the easing-into process is just way too detrimental to my day-to-day life to where i don't want to/can't try incorporating it

weirdly, though, fiber from processed foods (like potato chips) doesn't usually bother me too badly (if at all)

Ah, sea-faring oranges. The yin to scurvy's yang.
