You can criticize them for being heavy handed, but at the end of the day, their message is good. Modern farming conditions are vile and pollute the environment (cattle are a larger source of carbon emissions than cars). Not to mention that animal products are loaded with saturated fat and cholesterol. As much as people hate to admit it, the world would absolutely be better off if we dramatically reduced meat and dairy consumption.

I know an actual hippy that makes their own soap and deodorant and even she hates PETA. They are literal lunatics

I have no problem with standing against factory farming and unsanitary conditions for animals, but that's not their entire motive. You can find entire swathes of groups that are against factory farming and animal abuse that aren't flaming hypocrites or violent psychopaths.

It's like saying, "I support Nazism. They took things way to far, but they always made the trains run on time and that is very important" or, "I support Stalinist Russia. They were a bit heavy-handed, but their file keeping was immaculate, and that is very important".

I mean, I know I run the risk of invoking Godwin's Law, but it's actually fitting. It's saying that while you don't agree with all of an extremist groups beliefs, you support them because of a single good belief. I purposely mentioned Stalin and the Nazis because I wanted to point out that it could go any way.

The problem isn't their so called overall belief, its how people go about it.

Best example was Pamela Anderson and Heather Mills attacking the Canadian Seal Fishery. They literally did no research prior to making videos about how harmful the Seal fishery is to everything. How we were clubbing baby seals to death, when in fact that hadn't been done in over 50 years, and that our "fishery" was keeping the numbers in tact as Seals eat a ridiculous amount of fish and breed like crazy. So much so, that without being in check the worlds oceans would be dead right now. They spend millions of dollars on slander videos, only to be taken out with a single video done by our Premier(because the PM did jack all)

Even if it was true, they are taking a willfully oblivious and naive way to look at it. Not only do many locals relay entirely on things like seal hunts for their income, but shutting down any major operation like that is going to create a massive loss of jobs and an increase in poverty.

Way to miss my point.

The key is to support government policies that incentivize new industry to replace the old and a gradual shift from dependence on that industry if it is harmful or environmental, not making a scene in front of a fishery with gruesome images and yelling. All you are doing is galvanizing the people in the industry against you and making them even less likely to listen to you.

This. PETA is a terrorist organization that literally kills upwards of 90% of the animals they "rescue".

People that actually care about animals support local shelters/wildlife rehabs. PETA exists only to steal people's money and be a money-stealing troll.
