*This is only under the assumption he is on the ballot. Only vote in hypothetical that he will be on the ballot.

Trump's approval rating has been on the rise for months with no sign of slowing down.

Recent polling firms report:

Rasmussen (rating C+) - 51%
Ipsos/Reuters (rating A-) - 49%
Monmouth University (rating A+) - 45%
CNN/SSRS (not rated) - 44%

Despite the tweets, despite the negative coverage, and despite the Mueller investigation---it is clear Trump's approval ratings are stable (genius).

Compared with previous polls, Trump has a higher, or at least the same, approval rating currently as he did right before election day, 2016. Will it continue to rise?

Dude got by through the thinnest of margins the first time. Just tossing that out there.

Realistically we can't know for sure until the few months before the election.

We don't even know who his opponent will be, what the economy will look like, whether we'll be in a war, what sorts of issues the public will care about, what the other factions in the GOP will be up to, etc

Yes. He doesn't need the popular vote. If he wins the right combination of states he will win through the electoral college again.

How do you figure that? I understand three states were super close---but he could have lost one or two of those, and still a bigger state or two and still would have won.

And it's not like all of the states Hillary won were a total landslide, either.

As of right now, yes. I can also see him just getting tired of it and enjoying his old age...I can also see him going full speed ahead as well

But we're not even halfway through his first term, so lets see how it goes

What exactly was he going to "steal"? There were 18 states with a MOV of under 10% and he won 11 of them. There were only two states with 10+ EC votes that Hillary won that were within 10%, so there weren't really any "bigger states" to steal.

Meanwhile Florida, Pennsylvania, and Michigan were all within 1.2% and total 65 EC votes.

You both have a point. I will say that Florida in recent history has always been close, so Trump winning Florida was nothing atypical.

Let's focus on the three states that were extremely close: WI, MI, and PA. If Hillary won all three, she would have won the election---and you two are correct---all three were very close.

But for Trump to win all three is an anomaly---but much more than pure luck, as Democrats generally carry these states with several percentage points ahead.

So, it was technically close, but at the same time, a major and unprecedented achievement; particularly winning three of those solid blue states.

Depends on who the Dems run. I hope they pick someone that is actually likable. It didn't matter that she was qualified, and she was, absolutely. But she just had this slimey feeling to her. So much so that I voted for Gary Johnson
