When you hear this, shut the fuck up for fifteen seconds.

When 15 seconds pass, everyone is free to go. At which point, if you do have a question, go up and approach the speaker individually, instead of making us all listen to your overly specific-to-you bullshit.

I have a feeling this is nonacademia specific.

Questions section is a perfect time to have a more open discourse about the work. Also, if it is a job talk, it has evaluative qualities as well.

As a presenter, the questions are the most important part of the talk, to get real feedback and improve your work from it.

When the speaker asks if there are any questions, that is your cue to initiate small talk

What's your favorite color?
How about this weather?
Got any weekend plans?

All of these are acceptable things to say, because they fall under the very broad and imprecise umbrella of "any question"
