It doesn't. Probably 99% of people who wear/display a Confederate flag would stop to help black people in need, but the flag is considered racist because of the few bad apples who fly them.

'99%' where in the hell do you get your statistics? I get it, you said probably but still, I doubt that 99% would stop to help anyone. You should at least lower it a bit or not use them.

Right, not everyone who wears the rebel flag are racists but a lot of racists wear the rebel flag.

This story really irks you, doesn't it? You'd rather see this man be mean to black people because you'd rather be be right that everyone who wears/flies the flag is a racist boogeyman than be wrong and see this guy help black people.

This. The Confederate flag may have been used inappropriately on some occasions, but it's largely a symbol of friendship, neighborliness and love for all races and this guy proves it.

Go Cody! He was doing what an able bodied, vehicle knowledgeable southern man does.

It's a shame the young woman had to defend her original tweet and at times succumbed to pressure of denouncing what he was wearing.

Glad she stuck with Cody in the end, though.

While I agree that not everyone using one is a racist, it is still considered a symbol of hate. Not because of a few bad apples, but because it was only used two main points in history; 1) in a war fought in the name of slavery and 2) during the civil rights era where it was used to show support for the limiting or removal of civil rights.

I can understand the reaction. When someone who is at worst racist and at best incredibly ignorant does a nice, competent thing, it can be stunning. Makes you wonder why they can't act like that all the time.

It's viewed as a symbol of hate by leftists--that's the narrative being preached. Doesn't make it true, and some black people are also proud of and display confederacy symbols.

maybe people shouldnt judge people based on what they wear. all these liberals saying people shouldnt judge a woman by how provocative she dresses and the amount of makeup she wears, yet they are the same people who will judge a white person for wearing and waving the confederate flag. smh

I think I might start wearing the hammer & sickle or swastika everywhere. Maybe the ISIS flag. Gotta redefine those symbols. Not my fault if ignorant jackasses judge me as a bad person for flying historically bad colors.

I would judge a woman wearing a confederate mini dress.

It has nothing to do with right or left. You are turning this into a bipartisan debate, but it's not. Historically, the flag was flown two main period previous; during the civil war and during the civil rights movement. In both cases, it was used by the side that was looking to oppress African Americans/Africans. That's not an 'interpretation' or 'opinion', it's a fact.

Again, not saying everyone wearing it is a racist, but the flag has an undeniable history of racism regardless of your political leanings.
