Applied to a bunch of places online.
Eventually the DM of one place saw my resume had warehouse experienc4 and thought "Hey, this guy could work out." And passed my resume on.
Did two interviews with different managers who were unsure, got lucky that a third manager said "Hey, give the dude a chance. Worst case scenario we let him go before his probationary period is up."

Now here I am two years later as management.

Keep your chin up and never give up. We've all been there...unless you have family with connections. Reality is that it's mainly about who you know.

Oh, get a job? Just get a job? Why don't I strap on my job helmet and squeeze down into a job cannon and fire off into job land, where jobs grow on jobbies?!

When I was starting out, I pretty much flooded my resume online until someone called me back. Job recruiting companies are also a pretty good way to go sometimes.

Also, upload your resume to job sites like Careerbuilder, Monster, Indeed, etc.

I applied to it. They called me. I got an interview.

Granted this was after a long stretch of time without working and I was getting desperate. But the place is actually not bad, as far as retail work goes. The interview had hardly any questions about retail - it seems like she really just needed someone to fill a spot at the store and was tired of people not working out. They even skipped a drug test, which apparently doesn't normally happen.

I've not been out of work since I was 15. I've never understood why people find it so hard.

Some of those jobs have been shit, to be fair, but always had them.

Once time, I applied to a place, as in I called in, walked up to drop off my resume, and I as offered a job a month or so later. Other times, I knew a guy who worked at a work place I was genuinely interested in and they put in a good word for me. The current position I have, someone who worked for my dad knew I was jobless but could fit the position so he put in a good word for me. Apparently, the interviewers for a teaching position I laughably screwed up in an interview with put in a good word for me for the position as well. So it's a combination of being aggressive, knowing the right people, and getting lucky.

But the other thing to mention is that the jobs I've gotten are all over the place, from cooking, to chip manufacturing, to now being a data collector/analyst. I'm not much closer to my end goals than I was last year but I've been able to cross out some of my dreams on my bucket list.

I have a very good one now. If I quit I don't doubt that I could get another job, but a cut t pay and job satisfaction is likely.
